New Hope Dance
Welcome to New Hope Dance!

NEW HOPE DANCE Offers the following dance programs: Preschool, Academy, Pre-Professional, and Teen/Adult.

New Hope Dance is a year-round, classical ballet-based academy.

New students (ages 5+) are invited for a free Trial class during any of the Parent & Me, Preschool (Beginning), and Basic Ballet classes. For those wishing to join the Academy level classes, the Trial class will serve as an evaluation in order to place the student in the appropriate level.

Preschool Dance children have fun in a creative atmosphere while learning basic fine and gross motor skills, classroom etiquette, preschool readiness skills (color and shape identification), beginning dance terminology, short choreographies, and exploring music and rhythms. Ballet-based classes introduce students to ballet basics and French terms; flamenco-based classes introduce students to world music, geography, and basic flamenco and Spanish terms.

Dance Academy is a progressive, recreational program designed for every ability level. Students will learn skills that will build upon each other as they progress through the levels that are in line with the international Cecchetti Method of Classical Ballet technique and examination programs. A co-ed program, boys and girls will learn the various skills that are comprised in classical ballet: barre, arm work (port de bras), slow movement (adage), body positions and alignment, turns, small jumps (petit allegro), large jumps (grand allegro), around the room steps, choreographies, injury prevention, French terminology, musicality, rhythm, improvisation, basic anatomy, and an introduction to the history of dance. Students may be invited to take formal technique exams each spring; students typically spend 1-2 years at each level and promote based on mastery of skills. All students are welcome to participate in winter and spring semester-end recitals as well as in community performance opportunities. Fall and Spring semesters focus on technique progression; summer terms explore various creative aspects of the world of dance including costuming, set design and creation, choreography creation, world dance, music, and technique refinement.

Pre-Professional dancers receive competitive training to prepare them for professional dance careers. While maintaining a rigorous technique regimen, students are also introduced to various forms of dance such as world dance, contemporary dance, modern dance, pointe work, variations, and competition choreographies, and dance conditioning. Pre-Professional students work at the Elementary - Advanced II levels of the Cecchetti technique.

Teens & Adults have fun exploring various styles and levels of popular and world dance such as hip-hop, salsa, flamenco, Polynesian, tap, contemporary, swing dance, and ballet. Alternative cardio classes: hula hoop, jump rope, and Zumba.
